In May 2022, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Education jointly issued the Action Plan for the High-quality Development of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Universities towards 2035, stressing the need to promote the construction of cases with Chinese characteristics. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng pointed out in the first China Case Building International Seminar (2022) that we should strengthen the construction of case bases, build a number of demonstration case study bases relying on key enterprises and units, jointly promote the construction of quality cases, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning. As an important bridge linking practice and theory, case study is not only an important content of education reform, but also plays a unique role in the process of telling Chinese stories and spreading Chinese management ideas.

In response to the call of national characteristic case construction and strengthening the case study with high academic value, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics established the Liberal Arts Case Center. On November 5, the establishment Conference and the first Case Building Seminar (2022) of the Liberal Arts Case Center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, sponsored by the Liberal Arts Case Center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, the School of Business Administration of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, the Graduate School of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and supported by the CEIBS Case Center, was held in the Middle to Building of Malu Campus.

The founding conference of the Center: Full of friends, the journey started

The conference was divided into four stages. Yuan Honglin, Vice President of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Han Fei, Director of Professional Degree Division of Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of Ministry of Education, and Tang Jinghong, director of Graduate Education and Science and Technology Division of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education (Director of Provincial Degree Office) addressed the opening ceremony. Case centers, deans and deputy deans from China Europe International Business School, Nanchang University, Jiangxi Normal University, Jiangxi Agricultural University, East China Jiaotong University, East China University of Technology, Nanchang Hangkong University, Jiangxi Science and Technology Normal University, Nanchang Institute of Technology and other colleges and universities, Deans of relevant colleges of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics and members of the leadership class of the School of Business Administration attended the conference. The conference was presided over by Luo Shihua, Dean of Graduate School of the University.

In his speech, Yuan Honglin reviewed the results of case studies in our school over the past ten years, affirmed the important role of the School of Business Administration in the development of high-level cases in our school, and expounded the inevitability of the establishment of the university-level liberal arts case center. Yuan Honglin pointed out that the Liberal Arts Case Center is not only the case center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, but also the case center of the society. It is a work organization that serves the social and economic development of Jiangxi, explores the new mode of "teaching, learning, research, enterprise and politics" under the new liberal arts era, and promotes the deep integration of case development, talent training and social services.

In her speech, Han Fei pointed out that today, with the case connotation continuously deepening, the construction path constantly improving and the construction force constantly gathering, the school is expected to make use of the good relationship with local enterprises and the familiarity with business culture, quickly respond to the latest practices of enterprises, organize and launch excellent local cases, apply them in classroom teaching, and constantly polish and improve them in use. Form a virtuous cycle of case teaching and development, and add more quality cases to China's professional degree case database.

Tang Jinghong stressed that standing in the new historical stage, Jiangxi graduate education has entered the new track, towards the big stage. It is hoped that the center will practice the principle of learning, give full play to the spirit of moving forward, and strive to build a first-class school-level case center platform in China.

Case construction discussion: Experience sharing, An advice from others

After the founding conference, the first Case Building Seminar of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics was held by Professor Xu Longbing, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; Professor Su Jingqin, founding director of China Management Case Sharing Center; Professor Zhou Ning, School of Economics and Management of Dalian University of Technology; Share the experience of case center construction around the theme of "case construction and development". Professor Hu Haibo, Dean of School of Business Administration, hosted the event.

Su Jingqin discussed with the title of "Building Local Case discipline Ecosystem -- Problems and Challenges", and pointed out that the mission of the case is to promote the cultivation of talents integrating industry and education, improve knowledge ability and scientific research level, strengthen discipline construction and enable the establishment of local management theories in China. He pointed out that the case undertakes these missions because it has three functions of talent training, discipline construction and scientific research, as well as three attributes: unique attribute, general attribute and application attribute. Faced with the difficulty of building local case disciplinary ecosystem, Professor Su Jingqin proposed to "integrate case teaching and research", "deeply study the theoretical basis of case studies and consolidate the underlying logical basis of case studies", "deeply study the systematic relationship and transformation mechanism of the third type of case functions" and "take business school as the combat unit. Consciously explore the paths and methods of integration through practice to help build the local case ecosystem.

With the title of "Exploration and Reflection on the Construction of Case Center", Xu Longbing pointed out that case development should serve case teaching and promote the steady development of graduate education, and proposed that the construction of case center should be promoted from four dimensions: national level, platform level, university level and school level. Taking Shanghai University of Finance and Economics as an example, he explained that Shanghai University of Finance and Economics realized the sustainable development of the case center by standardizing case assessment, mobilizing teachers' enthusiasm for scientific research, investigating and visiting learning experience, and creating a good academic atmosphere, which provided a reference for universities to establish school-level case centers.

With the title of "TSS Teaching Case Development Model and the expansion of 'Multi-use of One Case'", Zhou Ning analyzed the TSS case development model based on the SPS research method from three dimensions: structuralization, practicalization and contextualization. She pointed out that case development needs to be devoted to the process of practice and repeated grinding, to have the spirit of seeking knowledge and truth, willing to do the bench research, only focus on the problem, pay attention to logic, in advance of material integration and outline layout, to achieve high level of case development efficiency.

Closed meeting: in-depth discussion, planning for the future

What is the operation mechanism of the Arts Case Center ofJiangxi University of Finance and Economics? How to promote the higher level of development of the Center through the mechanism? And what is the vision, mission and goal of the Liberal Arts Case Center of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics? Focusing on the above three issues, Vice President Yuan Honglin called the deans of the relevant schools of the University and the deputy deans in charge to have a closed meeting for in-depth discussion.

Yuan Honglin pointed out that the case construction is closely related to the classified training of graduate students, and it is of great significance to the discipline construction after the adjustment of the new subject catalog. The establishment of the Liberal Arts Case Center of the University has been used to coordinate the joint efforts of various faculties and functional departments to carry out case studies. In the next step, the specific work and the corresponding responsible person should be put in place, and the working system and incentive mechanism should be established and constantly improved to promote the case development and research of the school to a new level, and at the same time, the quality of professional degree graduate training should be continuously improved.

At the meeting, Hu Haibo reported the foundation of the center's current work and the target of the next step from three aspects: "What we have: Foundation and conditions", "What we want to do: Vision, mission and goals", and "What we do specifically: Job functions and plans".

The participating experts also conducted in-depth discussions on such topics as relying on the center to build disciplinary case ecology, promoting the output of high-quality case results, and how to build the case demonstration center of the whole province and even the whole country.

Joint Forum on Special Topics: Clash of ideas and Progress hand in hand

In the afternoon, Professor Chen Shimin, Professor of Accounting and Director of CEIBS Case Center, and Dr. Guo Ying, School of Business Administration, delivered keynote speeches at the CEIBS Case Forum. Chen Feilong, vice president of the School of Business Administration, presided over the forum.

With the title of "Case Teaching and Development", Chen Shimin focuses on three topics: what is case teaching method, what is high quality teaching case and how to develop high quality teaching case based on his own teaching and writing experience of case development. The speech was thoughtful and comprehensive, and the audience applauded continuously.

Taking the 2022 national case class "Loving Kitchen" as an example, Guo Ying focused on the design, implementation and reflection of case teaching, combined with her perception in the process of using the "Loving Kitchen" social entrepreneurship case teaching, and proposed to adopt the case teaching model of "review, comment and discussion" to achieve better teaching effect. He also pointed out that after case development, we should enter the classroom, think and summarize from the perspective of students, and constantly optimize the case development and teaching ability.

During the discussion and exchange, the experts and teachers discussed how to better integrate cases into teaching, how to better motivate teachers and students to develop higher-level cases, how to choose the focus of cases, and the path of future case work in our province.
